1) Away From It All Holidays
We provide a holiday for local families in desperate need of a break (whether through bereavement, trauma, family crisis, low income), who have not had a holiday for at least 3 - 4 years.
2) We knit teddy bears
Here are some colourful teddy bears that our Mothers' Union members & friends have knitted.
They are given to Leicester Police to give to traumatised children. They are also sent to children of refugees & asylum seekers through The Welcome Project at St Martins House and to Social Services for distribution to children. Our teddy bears are also being given to people with dementia. The teddies are sent off with our love & prayers for those who will receive them.
3) Crafts for hospitals
We make shawls for stillborn babies. The shawls are used to line 'Memory Boxes', which are given to the parents of stillborn babies or babies who die shortly after birth.
We make ventilator bonnets for tiny babies. The bonnets are made using a variety of stripes, colours and patterns to cheer things up a bit.
4) At Christmas, 100g chocolate bars are given to Mental Health Units.
5) We make Fiddle Quilts for people with dementia.
6) We make up Emergency Wash Bags for Leicester Royal Infirmary Accident and Emergency department, Mental Health units and Melton Mowbray hospital.
